The Comfort of a Mother’s
Love

A mother's love is
patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, it never fails or falters, even though the heart is breaking. -Helen Rice.jpg)
I was moved by Mr. Davis’s perspective on the role of a mother. Single parents don’t intend to raise their children alone, but due to unfortunate circumstances are forced to pick up the pieces left behind by the other parent. The dream David had is similar to the dreams of children who have experienced what it is like growing up in a household with a single parent. His dream signifies the realities of divorce and the burden it places on young minds of children.
Growing
up, I always was troubled by the emptiness in which I felt because of not having
the presence of a male figure in my life. I yearned for the hole in my heart to
be filled, constantly seeking out the people around me to give me an insight of
the feeling of being complete. Reading this poem I realized that I had never
really had been fatherless, I was grasping for what I always had, which was a
mother who did everything in her power to lead us down the right path. My mother
like all moms have taken on the role of a mother and father, being both the
provider and nurturer. The love of a mother is incomprehensible, it is a never
ending supply of compassion. The strength and courage possessed by all mothers
is inspirational, although the journey in, which they travel is rough they are
always mindful of giving their children the life they never had. "We are not
all perfect, but the one mistake they never make is abandoning their seeds.” The
lessons a mother teaches her child is one of the most important
life lessons in, which a person can receive. In this poem David describes his
mother as a women who has experienced the tests of time. She has given all she
can, but continues to push forward finding the inner strength to be at the beckon
and call of her children. The bond that a mother shares with her child is unbreakable.
Reading this poem, I remembered what my grandmother always told my sisters and I ,” to always love and cherish
your mother, as their will never be another one like her.”

Awwwww what you said really touch a place in my heart about mother's and their role they play in our lives because I love my mother dearly. It's true they teach us lessons in life because they been through that experience so therefore, they want the best for their children. Additionally, I loved how your grandmother said ” to always love and cherish your mother, as their will never be another one like her.”
ReplyDeleteremember we all are going to have a time for us to leave this earth and so we only have one life to live and we only have one mother so we have to cherish her.
I just finished seeing the video for this poem and it touched me. Poems that leave you thinking and make you open your eyes are my favorite. The poem " To This Day" by Shane Koyczan got me hooked on spoken word poetry. And yes, always remember that no one is going to pick you up when you fall except you're mother because she's always going to be by your side. The love a mother has for its child is unconditional.
ReplyDeleteIt is so unfair but it happens all the time, people get together and procreate and have a child who is not the blame at all for being raised in a single parent household. Having one parent that is predominantly part of your life is not something to be ashamed of, but many children do dream and wish to see a life where they have both parents and view society’s normal. Mothers are so strong and I admire all of the ones who do raise children on their own. This was a very touching blog entry.
ReplyDelete've always had a father but reading this has opened my eyes to the reality that not everyone has a father in their life and they feel an emptiness. Great poem.
ReplyDeleteI have been very fortunate to have both parents active in my life but wow. This helps me look at it from a different standpoint specially for my close friends that I know go through the same thing. This also shows how lucky I am and how I should take advantage so thanks.
ReplyDeleteSpoken word! I am absolutely in love!!! I am a poet myself so this was really good and entertaining to me. I have been through what this blog is talking about so I can relate and I really hope others see this so you can help them as well.
